Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's most well-known actors. She is known for her strong character but equally vulnerable. Her mother was an unmarried single mother who worked as a nursing assistant. She became interested with theatre in time spent in the summer with her famous father. Her studies in acting were at Brown University, and later in Juilliard School. In the two years following her graduation she started the beginning of her Broadway career. The following year, she began her career she was on television. In the years since, she's been appearing in a variety of films, TV shows and stage performances. Her nominations include three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), and has won numerous awards throughout her professional career. Her nominations include five Tony Awards, and three Oscar Awards nominations. However, despite her recognitions and awards, stage is where she's at and she'll continue to perform on stage and screen.
